Tachinidae > Nowickia ferox - a photo on Flickriver

            Les Tachinidae sont une grande famille de mouches regroupant de nombreuses espèces.  Les adultes se nourrissent de pollen et de nectar ; ils ne piquent pas ; ainsi en passant de fleur en fleur, ils participent à la pollinisation. Les femelles parasitent d’autres insectes en pondant leurs œufs à l’intérieur de leurs corps ; les larves en s’y développant participent ainsi à la réduction des populations d’insectes nuisibles.

Tachinidae are a large fly family that includes many species. Adults feed on pollen and nectar; they do not sting; thus, from flower to flower, they participate in pollination. Females parasitize other insects by laying their eggs inside their bodies; the larvae developing in this way contribute to the reduction of pest populations.
