Cape Lookout Lighthouse, Harker’s Island, NC

            Built in 1859, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse is located on Cape Lookout National Seashore. There is a Light Station Visitor Center and a Keeper’s Quarters, which now is a museum.
The lighthouse can be entered Wednesday through Sunday from mid-May to mid-September so plan accordingly. Unfortunately, I visited on a Monday without knowing the schedule.
The island is only accessible by ferry or private boat but is well worth a visit.
