Destruction of Earth Outpost 4 - a photo on Flickriver

            The last moments for the last survivor of Outpost 4 from the beginning of the TOS episode Balance of Terror. This still is from the original filmed sequence that was cropped and then inserted optically onto the view screen of the bridge. Hence the full shot here and the full screen view was not in the show.

Attacked by the (cloaked) Romulan Bird of Prey which had ventured beyond the neutral zone, this event interrupted a wedding and launched the duel between the Enterprise and the Romulan ship that comprised this story. 

Scanned and restored from the original 35mm film used to construct the scene.
