            The title is, of course, a play on Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass." The photo depicts a single leaf of grass in all its autumn glory, with an inflorescence of seeds (the seedhead) thrown in for good measure. Grass leaves have their own distinctive terminology: sheaf (the part of the leaf that envelopes the stem), blade (the part of the leaf above the sheaf), collar (the region of the outer side of the grass leaf at the junction of the blade and sheath).
