Great Gray Owl...#18 - a photo on Flickriver

A week after spotting 16 Great Gray Owls in the Sprague area I returned to see a total of 22 Great Grays in the same area... my highest owl total for any one given day to date...

In this picture taken on the way into Buffalo Point Provincial Park, this Great Gray was roosted in a tree, enjoying the morning sunshine, along the side of the road... he sat there for a good 20 minutes without moving, allowing me to approach until I was only about 20 feet away... it became apparent that he was not hunting and was not going to fly off, so I eventually just left him there and when I came back out of the park about an hour later he was still rooted in the same position....
