            Right now I'm in between foster children, so time has felt luxuriously long. I'm taking my time, reading, writing, sitting in the sun, shooting at leisure, and trying to enjoy the few months without a baby in the house. It's hard sometimes, because I miss my foster kids so much. But that doesn't mean life isn't worth savoring.

This image was a journey to make. I photographed myself in a white cloth while sitting in a local pond. Only one dog walker watched nearby. 

When I got the image home, I turned the cloth from white to red - a change I knew I wanted. And then I started to struggle with the location. It was too busy, not quite how I wanted the background, and fog wasn't doing it. Painstakingly, I moved the subject and weeds that I had been sitting in to a new lake with a cleaner background. It still felt off. So I added a single cloud mirroring the position of the subject.

For me, it's a look at transience and the morphing turns our lives take. Eventually we all head for death, and in the meantime, we become so many different people in a single lifetime. Like a cloud, everyone shapeshifts.
