First Encounter Beach Sunset - a photo on Flickriver

As I was driving North toward Eastham, I could see this show developing to the West. I could tell it was going to be a good one, so I veered off the highway at the road to First Encounter Beach. It was at this beach, in December of 1620, that the Pilgrims first made contact with the indigenous people of "The New World." (NOTE: It wasn't amicable.)

The bright orange light show was amazing, with the sun dipping through layers if purple, pink and red clouds. 

Also enjoying the show was a group of windsurfers. They were zipping about in the frigid air, seemingly immune to its effects. (My fingers had gone numb within 20 minutes of just standing out there in the wind. I don't know how they do it!!)
