Cloudy Sunset

            Last night my eldest son and I took a walk across Fala moor. He wanted to go a walk to watch the sun set and take a picture... I instantly thought of Fala Moor a place I'd not been for too long. I had fond memories of watching the sun set up at the luggie from my days in the Scouts. We used to camp close to here and often walk over the moor. It's nice to know in 30 years the place was essentially as I always remembered it. 

I took my wife's Canon M6... I wanted to give it a bit of a test to see how it performed in low light. Id only used it before on family days out in generally bright conditions. But compared to my 15kg + landscape kit its a lot lighter and I'm considering using it more for photography like this that is quite a walk from the car. There are more and more further locations I want to photograph and having a lighter but capable kit will defo make for a more enjoyable walk. I really enjoyed using it. The biggest issue I had was using a ball head... im so used to a geared tripod head for landscapes.

When we got up on the moor the light was wonderful... shafts of golden sunlight but then deep dark clouds. We took some photographs over at the castle but after about 30min and being 15min before sunset we decided to head back to the car. A huge bank of cloud had come over... it was starting to rain and you know that point you think enough is enough. So we headed back to the car... Just as we got off the moor and back onto the main path however the light just opened upend we seen a wonderful sunset. I would have got a better composition over the moor a little but I wasn't going back incase I missed the light so I just set up where we where and composed the best shot I could. I will definitely head back here as its a fantastic location!
