Uyghur men, Hotan, Xinjiang, China - a photo on Flickriver

This man was volunteered by his friend when I asked if I could take a picture.

These men are all ethnic Uyghurs. The Uyghur people are the native people of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and they make up more than 90 percent of the population in Hotan County, in southwestern Xinjiang.

Uyghur should properly be pronounced oo'-i goo-r, not wee-grrr. In Arabic script, it is written ئۇيغۇرچە. Uyghur is also spelled Uighur, Uigur, and Uygur. In Chinese it is 维吾尔 weiwuer.
