Home of the Centenarians || Hogar de los Centenarios (Seulo, Sardinia. Italy)

Sardinia is one of the 5 Blue Zones that can be found on our planet. In these areas, there is a higher percentage of people who are over 100 years of age, while still maintaining good health. Therefore, life expectancy in these areas is much higher than the average in the rest of the world. Most of the towns that have Sardinian centenarians are located in the province of Nuoro. So during our trip through this area of Sardinia, we decided to include in our itinerary the town of Seulo, which has the highest number of centenarians per capita. Our interest in learning more about its "secrets" for living such a long life led us to this hidden place, but also the beauty of this environment, located between mountains and impressive natural enclaves.
After a really intense and long day, enjoying the gastronomy and the friendliness of the locals, as well as having been lucky enough to be able to talk with the oldest man in Seulo, I found the strength to get up at dawn. From the nuraghe Su Nuraxi 'e Pauli, I was able to capture Seulo with a beautiful warm light that slowly illuminated the landscape. Calmly, but with some effort, the sun seemed to wake up little by little, slowly revealing the almost magical harmony that seems to house this very special place.

Cerdeña es una de las 5 Zonas Azules que se pueden encontrar en nuestro planeta. En estas áreas, hay un mayor porcentaje de personas que sobrepasan los 100 años de edad, mientras aún conservan un buen estado de salud. Por tanto, la esperanza de vida en estas zonas es mucho mayor que la media en el resto del mundo. La mayoría de los pueblos que cuentan con los centenarios sardos se encuentran en la provincia de Nuoro. Así que durante nuestro viaje por esta zona de Cerdeña, decidimos incluir en nuestro itinerario el pueblo de Seulo, que cuenta con el mayor número de centenarios per cápita. Hasta este recóndito lugar nos llevó el interés por aprender más sobre sus "secretos" para vivir una vida tan larga, pero también la belleza de este entorno, situado entre montañas y enclaves naturales impresionantes.
Después de un día realmente largo e intenso, disfrutando de la gastronomía y de la amabilidad de los locales, además de haber tenido la suerte de poder conversar con el hombre de mayor edad de Seulo, saqué fuerzas para levantarme al amanecer. Desde la nuraghe Su Nuraxi 'e Pauli, pude capturar Seulo con una preciosa luz cálida que bañaba lentamente el paisaje. Con calma, pero con cierto esfuerzo, el sol parecía despertarse poco a poco, revelando lentamente la armonía casi mágica que parece albergar este lugar tan especial.
