Ill-Fated - a photo on Flickriver

Ill-Fated

            Charlotte Southern 44 Tonner #3 crosses over East Henry Street in Charlotte, Michigan on the way back from retrieving the Grand Truck RPO car from the woods east of town. This run is one of, if not the final run to the end of the line. Accomplished by crews from the Coopersville & Marne Railway and Adrian & Blissfield. This run and the photos associated are one for the history books. 

The Charlotte Southern was once host to the Mystery Dinner Train, Operated by the Adrian & Blissfield (ADBF), However, After the COVID-19 pandemic, The Dinner Train never was able to reopen. With no customers and no real room for growth, The fate seems sealed. As a result, Adrian & Blissfield had placed all the equipment up for sale and the Coopersville & Marne had purchased 2 of the 3 dinner train cars and this old GTW RPO car. 

CHS 44 Tonner #3 was the final 44 tonner ever built by GE in 1956. Originally for the Dansville & Mount Morris Railroad as DMM #1
