VOILA!! ... Finished HDR!! - a photo on Flickriver

            Put em all together in the "magic" that is PHOTOMATIX and...

FINAL RESULT of the 3 combined images ... and my very first attempt at HDR!!

(And HAND-HELD too! I used the focus point as a target reference on the ornament's head!)

Just look at that "creamy" contrast! Isn't modern technology AWESOME?? I never cease to be amazed by it! In the days of film this sort of shot would have taken HOURS of "burning in" and "dodging" in the darkroom! Now it can be achieved in MINUTES!! And not a smelly chemical assailing the nostrils nor red light torturing the eyes! (no, I LOVED doing traditional darkroom really) FANTASTIC!

I know it's not thebest photograph in the world and wasn't meant to be. It was a VERY rushed "test" on the closest high contrast subject to try out the Photomatix software, and the technique worked quite well I think, especially when compared to the 3 originals.

My appetite is whetted! Now to venture out to try the technique on somewhat better subjects!...
