Lunar Mirror

            The Full Harvest Moon reflects in the sunrise-painted waters of the Sawhill Ponds near Boulder, Colorado. A few bright Cottonwoods line the banks amongst the ruddy Cattails and the Russian Olive, and the Indian Peaks rise up in the distance. Smoke from multiple wildfires that burned throughout October of last year creeps over the Continental Divide and mixes with clouds that catch the rising sun.

For these few minutes when I felt I needed to be free of distractions, I left the Pup in the van because this area requires a leash due to waterfowl and other wildlife. Dogs are delightful but they can cause wildlife undue stress. He waited not so patiently for me to pay attention to him, head out on a walk, and remember that he is far more important than calm moments. He's right most of the time.
