Pondering the Pond - a photo on Flickriver

Pondering the Pond

            This pond is beautiful any time of the day, any day from late spring (shown here) through mid-autumn. However, I think it is especially beautiful in mid-afternoon light (shown here). The sunlight is coming from the upper left in this photo. It makes the field of rather dry, long grass (also upper left) just glow. 

I don't know the significance or former use (mooring posts?) of the two pillars on the edge of the pond. In any case, I think they add to the beauty. Maybe they were always just decorative. We had a picnic just behind them last weekend. 

Location: Wenkenpark, a public park in Riehen BS Switzerland.
