Mean Green Roller Machine Nr.2 - a photo on Flickriver

This antique diesel (not steam) roller was parked proudly in someone's front yard. My suspicion was that it either still functioned or could be put back in order quickly. In any case, I thought it looked poised and ready to roll a newly laid roadway nice and flat.

BTW - In order to provide the rolling weight, the big iron rollers are filled up with water at the work location, and then drained afterward. You can see the filling ports on both of the rollers that are shown in the photo. Also, my next Flickr posting is an abstract reality photo based on one of the filling ports:
