Some of our neighbors are goats. Here is one of them. They don't live next door, but they are only a 5 minute walk from home.

We like TV shows about both wild and domestic animals. One result is that for a city boy, I have learned a bit about domestic goats.

In case you don't know, they are about as smart as dogs and lots smarter and more agile than domestic sheep. As a result, they are more curious about their surroundings and much harder to herd than sheep.

Another is that they are experimental about food. They will try anything that looks or smells as if it might be edible. One result of this is the myth about their eating tin cans. They don't, but they will give a can's paper label a try.

Goats have interesting eyes with horizontal rectangular pupils. This apparently gives them increased peripheral vision and improves their ability to watch out for predators. I think their eyes are even more interesting than Betty Davis Eyes..😎

Location: Private goat pasture on a public path. The goats are just across the path from a llama and alpaca pasture. Au Tal, Riehen BS Switzerland.
