            Making eye-to-eye contact at close range with an alpha preditor is an unnerving experience.  I got a chill looking through the viewfinder, even though I was in the complete safety of the viewing area of the Washington National Zoological Park. This royal "King of the Beasts" is a truely awesome and magnificent creature. (African Lion, Panthera leo:  his name is "Luke")
