Horned Grebe Showing its wares... - a photo on Flickriver

            Spotted at Avery Point while rushing to and from tests..
Ack...

So... I parked right up against the sea wall since I was running late and it was the only spot anywhere near the buildings. I had the camera bag (I've taken to using it as my school bag since I usually only need one notebook, but HAVE to have all my camera gear) slung over my shoulder already and was ready to take off at a trot to the building. I looked out over the seawall as I turned and saw something unusual. Usually I see Canadian Geese, Brants and a variety of gulls. This was none of those. Out with the camera. Only had time for a few shots before I had to get to class. By the time I got out, the grebe was nowhere to be seen. So glad I did pause long enough to smell the roses, especially as this is my first Horned Grebe, in breedin plumage no less.
