New wing to bee-hotel! - a photo on Flickriver

Inspired by one of Bernhard Jacobi's (terraincognita96) recent posts, I decided to experiment with modelling clay as a medium for bee-hotel holes. What I'd really like is to get Anthophora bees nesting in our Staffordshire garden.

I bought some air-dry modelling clay and in one of the cavities in this construction block I've used the clay mixed with sand. In the other, it's mixed with sand and granular cat-litter (seemed a good idea at the time). I'll see what happens. The idea was to get something not too hard that the bees could work on.

I'm not sure this will all be dry enough to attract anything this year. It's fairly thick and I have no idea how quickly it dries. I'll post images if any activity occurs!
