Juvenile Bald Eagle with Blue Band, New York City

This morning, as I was drinking coffee and reading the times paper in my car at the parking lot of Flushing Meadows Corona Park, I noticed a big bird with large wings flying towards the frozen lake, which immediately created quite a stir among seagulls and pigeons. I grabbed my camera and rushed to the scene. It was a Juvenile Bald Eagle ( I thought it was a RT Hawk originally ). Wow, Bald Eagle in New York City? This young bird just caught and killed a seagull. Later when I viewed the images on computer, I noticed a blue metallic band around its leg. This eagle has been banded and documented. I need to contact DEC of NYS to confirm that.
