909 – Cordero – Pórtico de la Gloria - Catedral Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña) – Spain.-

            El rey Fernando II de León en el año 1168 encargó al Maestro Mateo la finalización de la zona occidental de la catedral de Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña) – Spain.
Durante años se prolongó la obra debido a las dificultades que presentaba el desnivel del terreno, pero se culminó con la obra única en el románico denominada “El Pórtico de la Gloria”.
La clave de la bóveda de la tribuna está representada con la figura de un cordero que alude a la imagen de Cristo Salvador.

The King Ferdinand II of León in 1168 commissioned Maestro Mateo to complete the western area of the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña) – Spain.
For years the work was prolonged due to the difficulties presented by the unevenness of the land, but it was completed with the unique Romanesque work called "The Porch of the Glory".
The keystone of the vault of the gallery is represented with the figure of a lamb that alludes to the image of Christ the Savior.
