Habitat
Campos abertos, campos cultivados, cerrados.
Fêmeas e jovens
Não há diferença aparente entre machos e fêmeas. O melhor método para identifica-los consiste em colocar pares em viveiros e observar se há ou não agressão. Na época de reprodução, os machos arrulham bastante. Os jovens são como os adultos, um pouco menos coloridos.
Tipo de ninho:
Em forma de taça. Aceitam perfeitamente ninhos de corda de 12 cm de diâmetro.
Postura: 2 ovos.
Incubação
14 dias.
Comportamento e reprodução:
A Rolinha-fogo-apagou é bastante conhecida por seu canto inconfundível: “fogo apagou” e pelo barulho que faz com as asas quando levanta vôo, como o chocalho de uma cascavel. Reproduz em cativeiro, principalmente em viveiros de pelo menos 1 m de largura x 2 m altura x 2 m de profundidade.

The Scaled Dove (Scardafella squammata, sometimes placed in Columbina) is a species of bird in the Columbidae family. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, and heavily degraded former forest.

Scardafella is a genus of New World doves, which are sometimes included in Columbina. Its two members are

* Inca Dove, Scardafella inca
* Scaled Dove, Scardafella squammata

They are small, long-tailed doves with extensive scaling to the plumage, and a rufous primary-patch, which is distinctive in flight. They are largely terrestrial and occur in pairs of small flocks in open areas, including scrub and cultivation.
