Sainte-Croix sur Verdon1 - a photo on Flickriver

            Le nom de ses habitants est Saint-Cruxiens1. Les communes limitrophes de Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon sont Roumoules, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, Les Salles-sur-Verdon, Bauduen, Baudinard-sur-Verdon et Montagnac-Montpezat.
La géographie du lieu est marquée par l’immense lac de Sainte-Croix (2200 ha), que le village domine à 513 m d’altitude2. L’entrée des gorges de Baudinard est située sur la commune.
Le village était situé dans la plaine, avant de se déplacer sur un site en hauteur au xvie siècle3. Il se trouve actuellement au bord du lac de Sainte-Croix, l’ancien site ayant été noyé.
