Hayedo Otzarreta

            El Hayedo de Otzarreta es uno de los sitios más mágicos y fotografiados de todo el País Vasco. Podrás ver hayas centenarias con troncos robustos y grandes raíces que invaden todo el paisaje con el color verde del musgo. 
 
Las hayas normalmente crecen con sus ramas en forma horizontal, pero algo inusual se puede descubrir a simple vista en este hayedo. Sus árboles poseen una forma “extraña”, con sus ramas creciendo con fuerza como apuntando al cielo. Hace más de 50 años atrás, las ramas de estas hayas eran sometidas a una poda para obtener carbón con la leña, una actividad tradicional que se realizaba de modo sostenible.
 
Hoy el hayedo protegido se ha transformado en una hermosa escena natural que cambia cada época del año.
