This is the view towards the ocean taken at the same day this photo was taken in the middle of crazy winds and some rain.

I had told before, that I would like to make a B&W version of the pictures taken at this black beach, just because no so much color was there to begin with. So, following my latest posts with this kind of processing, I chose this one and, even though I'm starting to feel a little tired of the style, I still believe the processing adds a very interesting touch. What I don't like, is probably that it looks 'overcooked' and somehow HDR-ish, which I tend to critique due to its lack of realism. I know it's hard to convey the sense of reality in black and white photography because it lands more on the 'artistic-fine-art' kind of thing, but I like when an image gives an accurate perspective of the landscape.

Another think I don't like particularly about this picture is the sky. The water droplets from the rain and the wind on the lens were a huge issue. I tried to minimize the exposure time, so fewer drops fall on the lens between wipes, but going f/16 made them more visible. It's not that noticeable on the foreground but cleaning the sky was kind of tricky. Given the amount of them, I used frequency separation and looked for a smooth transition. Still, you can see some patches due to the use of the clone tool, that look a little unnatural and weird. I wonder how it will look on paper...

Anyway, let's see how long I will remain hooked to B&W. Perhaps next time I change the processing somehow. See you out there!
