armed and dangerous - a photo on Flickriver

A two-week 9 pm- 4am curfew has been declared in Bangkok as one of the measures to try to contain and/or slow down the spread of Covid. Many checkpoints like this one have been set up around Bangkok to enforce the curfew. I am not sure why the police think a weapon like this is necessary, but this was one of the first photos I saw on Twitter this morning. So far I haven't read of any weapons being used on curfew breakers, if any, and I hope I will not. The govt has made many mistakes in their handling of this latest Covid outbreak, I just hope this isn't another one.
