Scone Palace ~ the Chapel - a photo on Flickriver

            on the Boot Hill, or Moot Hill, take your pick. The latter appears most popular.

There are at least three ways in which Scone can be pronounced. The first, for the palace and ancient capital of Scotland is like skoon, and rhymes with spoon or Brigadoon. The second is like skawn, rhyming with gone or fawn. Such Scones are edible. The third is like skown, rhyming with stone or grown. Such a thing does not exist, except on the tongues of posh Sassenachs. *edit* .... I correct myself, that should read except on the tongues of tw@ts from Sheffield.

The stone of Scone is of course the coronation stone, lia fail, stone of destiny, etc. Whereas the scone of stone is to be avoided at all cost, lest ye seek a new set of dentures.
