G-BDIU De Havilland DH.106 Comet 4C seen in a Comet line up at London Gatwick

Wouldn't you just love to see a line up of three Comets at Gatwick again - happy days!
A nice line up of De Havilland Comets, which were used by Dan Air throughout the 1970s, ceasing to fly for the airline just a few months after this photo was taken. I kind of wish I'd captured that third tail though!

G-BDIU c/n 6468 De Havilland DH-106 Comet 4C was one of the last production Comets, delivered new to the Royal Air Force as XR396 in March 1962. The aircraft flew with the RAF until 1975, when it was sold to final operator Dan Air. The airliner flew for a further five years, before being withdrawn and stored at RAF Lasham. The aircraft was then flown to RAF Bitteswell and was broken up in 1981.

Taken with a Soviet made Zenith EM camera and 300mm lens.
