Coastal milky way... - a photo on Flickriver

            We just returned from another amazing trip to the Oregon coast. This trip was specifically timed with the dark moon phase for capturing the milky way. The Oregon coast is notorious for having a lot of fog during September. We certainly had our fair share of it. However, on this night, our first night, we had incredibly clear dark skies. We made a choice to go to a place that is no longer a "secret" on the coast. Years ago, it took hours to find this spot....but thanks to social media and location disclosures, you're no longer alone here. Luckily, by the time night rolled around, it was just the 2 of us, the ocean, sea stacks, and the milky way.  This is a 2 image blend. The foreground was captured just after sunset, allowing for some light on the rocks and sea. The sky image was captured about an hour later. The two images are then hand blended in photoshop for this time blend exposure. Nothing was ever moved or changed between shots, except for camera settings. Nikon Z9 with Nikkor 14-24mmF2.8 S lens at 24mm. Sept 16-2022. (BEST viewed large and in a dark area)
