Death of Mrs. John Hoobler
Mrs. John Hoobler died at her home in Kaw Township on Friday last, May 19th, 1890, of quick consumption.
Trissa Virginia Hoobler was the oldest daughter of Mr. F. A. Saville and was born July 9th, 1880. She was married to John Hoobler August 29. 1897. Besides her father and husband she leaves one sister, Miss Bertha Saville, and a little 9 months old son as immediate relatives.
The funeral services were held Sunday at the Kaw Valley M. E. church conducted by the pastor Rev. Cook and the remains were interred in the Greenwood cemetery.
Deceased was a consistent Christian lady, a devout member of the M. E. church and was much beloved by all who knew her. She was ready when the summons came and after bidding her friends an affectionate farewell, and asking them to meet her in heaven, she quietly sunk into that peaceful sleep so beautiful even in death. We extend sympathy to the bereaved husband and friends.
The following beautiful lines were written in her memory by one who knew her intimately:
Oh, call it not death, it is life begun,
For the waters are passed the home is won;
The ransomed spirit hath reached the shore,
Where they weep and suffer and sin no more.
She is safe in her Father’s house above,
In the place prepared by her Savior’s love;
To depart from a world of sin and strife,
and to be with Jesus, yes, this is life.
Oh, call it not death, ‘tis a holy sleep,
And the precious dust the Lord doth keep;
She shall wake again and how satisfied,
with the likeness of Him who for her had died.
As He rose again she shall also rise,
From the quite bed where safe now she lies;
Then cheer ye fond mourners who sadly weep,
For happy are they who in Jesus sleep.
