1947-48 Buick Super station wagon

            Model 59, 2036 built.  Seen at Eyes on Design at the Edsel Ford Estate.

Buick station wagon bodies were made of wood from 1947 to 1953 by the Ionia manufacturing Company of Ionia, Michigan, a division of Mitchell Bentley Corp, whose sill plates appeared on these cars instead of the usual Body by Fisher plates.  Then Ionia made the full size steel station wagon bodies from 1954 through 1964.
