The building on the mountain top in the distance is the radar tower from the former Almaden Air Force Station, atop Mount Umunhum.

I knew the aircraft was due to land at Moffett Field, but the information I had received that it would approach from the north turned out to be mistaken. My friend and I hurried to what would have been an ideal place from which to photograph a landing from the north, and within minutes of arriving we heard the tower provide landing clearance from the south.

Oh well... :-)

I didn't have nearly "enough lens" for this shot, but that's how it goes. It's the first time I've ever seen the one Super Guppy Turbine that remains airworthy approach from this perspective.
