            The Island Line on the Isle of Wight is operated by South Western Railway using former London Transport '1938 Stock' tube trains which were introduced to the island between 1989 & 1992. Ten 2-car trains were sent to the island and 5 remain available for service with a 6th, being stripped for spares at Ryde St John's depot.

The trains are referred to as Class 483 and only the last 3 digits of the unit number are carried on the unit ends. Unit 483 004 is pictured at Shankin prior to working the 13:38 (2U36) service to Ryde Pier Head on June 14th, 2018.
