L2024_1330 AGM Inspection Train at Dduallt

When the Ffestiniog Railway Society AGM Inspection Train special hauled by LILLA arrived at Dduallt DAVID LLOYD GEORGE which had arrived earlier with the stock of the gravity train drew carriage 102 off the mainline and placed it in the bay platform. This relased LILLA from the head of the train and she was able to join DAVID LLOYD GEORGE at the front to double head back to Porthmadog. However, before doing so the train paused at Dduallt to allow passengers to explore this remote spot which has no road access and allow bouth up and down service trains to pass on the main line.

Between 1968 and 1977 Dduallt station was the end of the line before the completion of the deviation and new Moelwyn Tunnel.and used to see many passengers alight for a walk up to the observation point on the knoll on the inside of the deviation spiral which was under construction. Today it is a request stop which is used by walkers wishing to start or end their walks at this remote location.
