2016 10OCT22 PORTSMOUTH CATHEDRAL GREEN IN AUTUMN

            The cathedral church of St.  Thomas, Old Portsmouth, was a parish church within the diocese of Winchester until 1927, a year after Portsmouth was granted city status.  Plans were made to extend the church to make it more in keeping with its new status, but the war intervened shortly after work was started, so a temporary brick wall was erected at the western end of the cathedral, which remained until work was finally completed in 1991.
