Boats Along a Canal in Fort Lauderdale

            Fort Lauderdale, known as the "Venice of America" due to its expansive and intricate canal system, is a city in Broward County, Florida.  According to 2007 U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the city had a population of 183,606.  The city is a major yachting center, with 42,000 resident yachts and 100 marinas and boatyards.

(That's right, 42,000 yachts among 183,606 people!!!  And from the looks of it, the rest of the city's inhabitants own sailboats or catamarans instead.)

I sold nonexclusive rights to the original edit of this photo to an online stock photography library in 2008.  In the original edit, the colors were more "pastel."  I reprocessed the photo because I felt the colors were slightly washed out.  I wish I had my Digital Rebel back then.  This was done with a point-and-shoot camera.
