Merry Hill Monorail - Central Station - South Entrance (Close View)

            In 1991, the Merry Hill shopping complex opened a monorail transit system that ran between the Waterfront parking lot and the Boulevard, where the Frankie and Bennies and americangolf buildings are now. It was planned to extend the monorail towards Round Oak over the Dudley Canal, but this never happened. During its years in operation, the system suffered many technical difficulties, one of these being the evacuation procedures. The system ceased operation in 1996. The track and stations remained on the complex until 2001 when the track and trains were sold to Australia to run at the Oasis Shopping Centre - their monorail closed down on the 27th January 2017. The last time the shopping centre acknowledged the monorails existence was in a special exhibition in 2016, displaying items and objects that used to be in the Central Station.

After the stock and track were sold, all of the stations and remaining infrastructure was demolished and flattened. As of now, there are little to no remains of the system. However, one of the stations was cut from being demolished, as it was built into the shopping centre itself - this is the Central Station.
