            We've had a selection of cute frogs in our garden pond during the heatwave....here is one of them, Ferdinand.  Isn't he beautiful?

When we had the first rainstorm last weekend, the frogs all jumped out of the pond in an excited manner and started jumping/dancing around the garden.  I was so happy to see them all so excited about the rain....until I noticed they were all heading off towards the back fence- and they didn't come back!

The pond was barren of frogs for a few days, but I spotted 2 yesterday (there were previously about 12) so I am hoping they realised that the grass isn't always greener, and that it wasn't so bad being looked after by an overbearing middle-aged lady who talks to them and obsessively takes portraits of them.

(The criss-cross shadow you can see is the net protecting the pond from herons.)

Disclaimer: all of the frogs are named Ferdinand, I have no idea whether this is the original Ferdinand or not.
