Great Central Railway Loughborough Leicestershire 29th December 2023

            On the footplate, or rather on the tender!

I had lit the fire in GWR Modified Hall 4-6-0 6990 Witherslack Hall at 7.00am, 48 minutes earlier, and had 20psi on the boiler. With only slack on the firing plate I decided to bring some coal down from the back of the tender to build the fire with. This is the view from up top as it started to get light: 9F 2-10-0 92214 alongside and 8F 2-8-0 48305 in front, the other two steam locos in service this day.
