Wrest Point at Sunset - a photo on Flickriver

            An inn was built at this point in Sandy Bay by William Chaffey in 1839. In 1939 it was developed into the first tourist resort of its kind in Tasmania - the Wrest Point Riviera Hotel. We see remnants of the original buildings on the left which are still used today. The Wrest Point Tower, designed by leading Australian architect Sir Roy Grounds, was built in 1973 as part of the very first casino opened in Australia.
