Swallow Tanager immature male - a photo on Flickriver

            This is an immature male Swallow Tanager with some blue beginning to appear in the green plumage; females are uniformly green and do not have the black face mask. (The yellow tints on the right side of this bird are from sunlight.) This individual was observed near the town of Minca in northern Colombia, South America, which is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta: a highly rewarding area for birdwatching with a good number of endemic species.
