Grey heron in the nature reserve "Steinhorster Becken" in the Gütersloh/Paderborn counties

            It was a former subsidance and flood area in the upper River Ems wetlands. Since 1972 it was transformed by controlable barrages into a flood protection area for the endangered cities and villages nearby.
