2. Cut off the paper tabs - a photo on Flickriver

            There is absolutely no need to keep the paper tab containing the chemical pod with the developer fluid. Eventhough it falls of by it self during the procedure because of all the water, it is just in the way. Cutting it off before you start is wise so that you won't block your drain with paper left-overs.
It is just the plastic negative which you want to keep. The front, as seen on this picture, contains the exposed photo and needs to be protected from water, scratches and bleach so be careful with that. The backside (not seen here) has the opaque black paint which is what you want to get rid off.
