Boulevard Masséna
Boulevard Masséna is a boulevard or avenue in the 13ème arrondissement of Paris in the quartiers Maison-Blanche and Gare. It is part of the boulevards des Maréchaux, boulevards of the Marshals.
This 1500 meters long boulevard starts at Porte de Vitry and ends at Avenue de la Porte-d'Italie
163, avenue d'Italie. Width varies from 40 to 57 meters.
After being accessible by the Petite Ceinture bus line, Boulevard Masséna is now accessible by the T3a tram line.
It received its name from André Masséna (1758-1817), Duke of Rivoli, Prince of Essling and Marshal of the Empire.
Boulevard Masséna is part of the ring of boulevards created in 1861 along the Thiers city wall. It occupies part of the former rue Militaire which was handed over to the city of Paris by the military engineers following a ministerial decision of July 28, 1859.
The surroundings of the boulevard, the former axis of the working-class and popular 13th arrondissement, were profoundly transformed by the Italy 13 operation in the 1960s and 1970s with, in particular, the construction of the towers of the future Asian district.
