            Venezianischer Karneval in Schwäbisch Hall

Inspired by the "Carnevale di Venezia" and the beautiful historic old town of Schwäbisch Hall, some residents of Hall founded the carnival based on the Venetian model in 1998.
 
Since then, the masks have been enchanting their visitors every year with a quiet and mysterious play on their strolls through the medieval streets.
 
HALLia VENEZiA was a great success just one year after it was founded in Schwäbisch Hall. Since then, many imaginative figures have populated Hall's city center 8 days before Shrove Monday. In the meantime, the wonderful masked festival has found a wonderful home in the medieval streets of Schwäbisch Hall.
 
Since then, the impressive event has been organized and hosted by a small, very committed group. HALLia VENEZiA has been an association since April 2007. Anyone can still take part.
 
The members of HALLia VENEZiA make and finance their masks and costumes themselves. A plaster mask is removed from their own face in order to form and design the actual mask with paper and glue. She is light as a feather. Many hours of work also go into making the costume. There are no limits to the imagination and creativity of the mask makers.
 
Masks and costumes are brought to life in the ritual masque. The essence of the mask is to be shown. The actors walk at a slower pace, often stopping in the gesture. Touching is only apparent and speaking under the mask is generally not allowed. The gesture becomes language.
