The Path - a photo on Flickriver

The Path

So many of us landscape photographers are in search of the obscure locations that are beautiful, and sometimes not so popular. Everyone can shoot Multnomah Falls. This is the path less traveled. This image is from a location in eastern Oregon with a profound and stoic name- Crack in the Ground. That's really the name. Ground fissures like this are not uncommon, but most fill in through sediment transport and erosion. However, this one is in eastern Oregon where there is not a lot of weather to fill it in.

I have seen many images of this place, and its been on my list for a long time. We don't have many slot canyons here in Oregon, and this one only goes about 30 feet deep, but its a 2 mile hike through fantastic caves, bordering, and technical rock climbing...was that a family with their small dog? Ok, not so technical, but a blast just the same.
