VINTAGE GLASS NEGATIVE 212 - a photo on Flickriver

            A French officer of the Great War, photographed with a kitten sometime between 1914 and 1918. The number on his collar  is 166 which suggests that he is serving with the 166e régiment d'infanterie.

On his right arm he is wearing an arm band. I don't know whether he is in mourning or if it is an official brassard. In other photographs taken at the time he is not wearing it. 

This quarter-plate glass negative has been digitised photographically rather than with a scanner and restored in Photoshop. This is a low resolution version.
