Just half a cup

            We were attempting to travel along California’s State Highway 20 when fallen trees blocked our way. We pulled over at a wide spot to wait for the road to be cleared. I grew restless and decided to take a walk. We were in the throes of “an atmospheric river” but at that moment the rain was light. I was exploring hollow redwood stumps when I spied this brightly colored shard inside a moss covered tree.
