Birds Nest Fungi ~ Crucibulum laeve - a photo on Flickriver

            This is one of several species of 'Birds Nest Fungi' found in New Zealand. The spores, in the tiny 'egg' (peridiole)are distributed after droplets of rainwater splash them out of the 'cup' (peridium) onto the ground.
