Description: Abutilon striatum is a plant in the class Magnoliopsida, order Malvales, family Malvaceae, subfamily Malvoideae and tribe Malveae.

Fast-growing, rustic plants, the Abutilon striatum are desired by gardeners all around. They grow easily and fast from stakes which must be cut on the joints. Once the roots are grown, and care is taken, there is practically no more risk of losing the plant. This beautiful ornamental bush is a favorite of humming birds and a few beetles, turning your garden into a sweet spot for them. It likes very rich soil; personally, I mix worm humus, organic soil, bone dust, burnt rice shells and cattle dung together and plant the stake in the mixture. It can thrive in less rich substracts, and a few "extras" can be discarded, such as the burnt rice shells. Once a certain size has been achieved, the plant will produce flowers that resemble bells or chinese lanterns. The Abutlion striatum can achieve up to 3 meters tall. It has to be watered excessively every single day after it has been planted. After around 20 days have passed after the growth of the roots, you can proceed to water the plant once every two days. Don't worry; it doesn't die easily.

Attracts: Humming birds and a few insects, like beetles.
